Our Favorite Holiday Traditions

Posted on

Are you looking for a new holiday tradition to start this year? We asked our team for some of their favorite holiday traditions, and from matching PJs (a popular one!) to delicious desserts, here what our team is up to this season:

Caitlin (Director of Marketing + Partnerships):

My family and I make 'Christmas Tree Bread' every year on Christmas Eve to eat in the morning for breakfast! It's bread made in the shape of a tree that we decorate with "ornaments" (marachino cherries), slivered almonds, and a sugar frosting.

Dylan (Creative Director)Last year I discovered a dessert you make in a cast iron pan called a dutch baby (it's basically one gigantic popover with pockets of jam, then dusted with powdered sugar) I ended up making 3 last year, so I’m definitely going to make that my new tradition!

Samantha (Events and Brand Coordinator):

My family opens matching PJs on Christmas Eve that we sleep in and open gifts in on Christmas morning! Also, it’s tradition I tuck my sister into bed and read her ‘The Night Before Christmas’, something I still force her to let me do even though she’s 23 year old now, ha!

Whitnee (Customer Experience Lead):

On Christmas Eve my family has a big fondue dinner party. We also get matching PJs!

Carine (Customer Experience and Brand Support):

I'm from Brazil so my traditions may be a little different on Christmas Eve. My family and I have Secret Santa and then we all have dinner together. I'd say the desserts are the high points. In Brazil, french toast is a very Christmas-like dessert so we have a bunch of that, and we also go a little rogue with chocolate pies and lemon meringue pies!

Elana (Founder & CEO):

My family's traditions include lighting the Hanukkah candles, playing a gambling game with a spinning top & chocolate coins called “Dreidel”,  and eating fried potato pancakes called “Latkes” with applesauce. It’s a weird combination, but it’s the best.

Casielle (Graphic Designer):

Family traditions include decorating the tree! We have a large ornament collection that we add to every year. We play Filipino Christmas music while we put the ornaments on the tree; each of them has a special memory. Every Christmas Eve we go to mass at church, then go home and open presents at 12am! The next morning we open “Santa’s gifts" and spend more time with family.

Elizabeth (Marketing and PR Intern):

My family always gets new pajamas on Christmas Eve to watch holiday movies in! It's one of my favorite traditions, aside from making a ridiculous amount of sugar cookies to decorate poorly with homemade frosting.
